Flood your body with oxygen

Every cell in our body requires oxygen to function. But did you know that the air we breathe only has about 21 percent of it?

HBOT lets you breathe close to 100 percent pure oxygen. This combined with the pressurized chamber brings more oxygen to the tissues through the blood.

That’s because gas under pressure can more easily dissolve into liquid. In this environment, the oxygen is not only carried by your red blood cells but also dissolved into your blood plasma. This helps oxygen penetrate more easily into all tissues.

Our clinic hosts what’s known as a “soft chamber” that facilitates mild hyperbaric therapy (mHBT). A soft chamber increases atmospheric pressure from 1.0 ATA (sea level) to 1.35 ATA, which is like being 11 feet underwater.

Higher pressure hard chambers, on the other hand, are reserved for specialized clinics and hospital settings to treat a wider range of medical conditions.

HBOT for healing and wellness

HBOT first gained popularity as a way to treat scuba diving illness. Today, it’s used to treat a wide range of conditions, and simply for health and wellness.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has shown to benefit a variety of chronic conditions that have limited treatment options. Oftentimes, oxygen can be the missing element.

Here’s just a sample of what HBOT can be used for:

  • ADHD
  • Allergies
  • Arthritis
  • Autism
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Blood circulation
  • Brain function
  • Breathing
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Concussions
  • Fungal infections
  • Headaches
  • Immune system
  • Low blood flow
  • Overall energy
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Skin beautification
  • Sports injuries
  • Sprains and strains

What can I expect in a hyperbaric chamber?

Many people find HBOT to be very relaxing. Our eight-foot chamber is large enough for two people and roomy for one.

A technician will be present during your session, and you’ll be able to communicate with one another through a speaker system. A window lets you see out of the chamber into the room.

Patients bring with them whatever they want inside to keep them occupied–books, iPads, cell phones, snacks. Or you can simply meditate, sleep or lay back and relax.

Initially, you may feel a slight pressure in your ears that dissipates when you reach the full pressure in the chamber.

It’s recommended to do an hour-long session for the greatest benefit, but 30-minute sessions can be arranged.

While you’re in there, some tingling in the body is normal, a feeling of more circulation and being able to breathe better is common.

When the session comes to a close, it will take a minute or two to decompress, and you may feel the same symptoms you did at the beginning (like ear pressure). Afterward, many people report feeling both relaxed and energized.

If you’re a little on the fence, come in and check out the chamber for yourself to get a sense of what it might be like–no pressure.
